Just a short TR for yesterday's Qantas flights from Melbourne to Adelaide QF675 and back again QF692.

Used the check in kiosks and upon retrieving my reservation found that all window seats were taken and if I didn't accept the allocated seat 22D, I only had a choice of seats B or E. Accpeted 22D and this was an hour prior to departure. Never having been to Adelaide I fancied the window seat. Was offered to check in for the return leg, which I took, and managed to secure a window seat 25A.

Boarding commenced on schedule and, even though the flight was full, we left on time. B737-800. Welcomed on board by name - nice. Safety video shown and we were off. Breakfast serviced commenced immediately, cereal/yoghurt/fruit juice/warm roll/tea and coffee. Not much time to eat as only a 55min flight and wasn't served until 25 mins in. IFE was available though no news programme. Landed in Adelaide ahead of schedule and straight out to taxi rank.

Arrived back at airport with plenty of time to spare. Straight through to airside. Adealide hass a new terminal - very nice and spacious with floor to ceiling glass all facing the runway. Nice if yuo like to watch the planes and still nice if you don't as plenty of natural light.

Flight began boarding on time, this time by seat row number, and as luck would have it had one of the two empty seats next to me. Safety video shown and very short taxi to runway and off only 10 mins behind schedule but told we were expected to be on stand on time due to short flying time.

Drinks and snacks service started immediately, with the announcement that complimentary wines and beers were available, but spirits could be purchased for $6. Took a while to be served but people in row in front and next to me were offered two snacks instead of one. Snack was a pack of four biscuits and a pot of dip - actually very tasty - but hardly filling. Just enough to make you hungrier than if had nothing. Red wine was perfectly palatable. IFE available and actually listened to the comedy channel until we arrived on stand.

Overall 8/10. Good service even though flights were both full. Staff were friendly and cheery although a bit more dour in their approach compared to DJ. This is my second trip with QF for work and only one personal trip with DJ. It is a difficult call, when comparing discounted economy fares, as to who I would choose. QF have the edge with the inflight service although on these short flights the complimentary bar service is only mon-fri on flights after 1600. However the DJ staff with their fun attitude make the experience a bit lighter in my opinion.
