Return leg part 1.
No direct flight to MEL on a Sunday so had to travel vis ASP with a 5.5 hour layover.
Picked up from hotel by free shuttle at 0835 and arrived at airport at 0850ish. Went to the check in desks and were seen quickly and bags checked through to MEL.
Departure lounge consists of a few seats and a bar/coffee shop - but hey you are only there maximum an hour and it does have good views of the airfield - pity no planes! Watched the inbound plane come in and after disembarkation saw cleaners go on board and catering. But as it is small airport the catering lorry is a forklift - interesting[:)].
Flight was called at 0945 and all 30-40 passengers boarded - so the plane was quite empty. We were allocated 12E & F on B717. As soon as door closed I moved to 11F so we could both have a window seat.
Manual safety demonstration and we were off. Great views of the rock on departure. 30mins flight time but were served a snack (cake and biscuits) and drinks. Wasn't expecting anything.
Great views from plane - not a cloud in the sky. Landed in ASP 10 mins early.
Overall a faultless little hop.
