Boarding was announced, but bizarrely, no staff at the gate to actually board us! There was then the standard announcement for anyone needed extra time to board, but again, no staff appeared - so lucky really that nobody needed extra time or help!
Take off was also delayed by around 30 minutes, no reason given, followed by an announcement 'welcome aboard this flight to Las Vegas...' which was followed by some puzzled and amused looks from the staff - the flight was actually going to LA....
Drinks didn't appear until about an hour into the flight, by which time we were definitely thirsty! Dinner was fine - I had salad, lamb noisettes and cheese - couldn't fault it for airline food, but the service was really slow. I could see no reason for this, especially since the flight was only half full.
Entertainment thingy turned up after dinner - I imagine the reason for this is that there really isn't room on the tray for food AND the player. I think there was a choice of 20 films, then TV stuff, music, cartoons. I always struggle to find something I want to wach, even with Virgin, so am not sure I can really comment on the choice with any real fairness. Scones and cream arrived during the afternoon, along with a goats cheese/cranberry tart. Scone was nice, tart was a bit soggy.
On balance, I think it's a pretty good product. The staff were unfailingly attentive and amusing. I guess my only real negative comment would be that the operation is a little less slick than Virgin, but maybe that's something that comes with time????
