It was an early morning pick-up, mainly since the Croatian airlines flights leave early so people can connect from LHR and other European destinations onto intercontinental destinations. The business queue was the longest in the terminal, and the slowest so ended up using the economy desks instead. And then it was onto the security queue, which was even slower (and seems very outdated), so be warned and therefore allow useful plenty of time!

The departure lounge is very small and feels like a holiday airport. There are a couple of shops (but no newsagent - that is before security), a cafe and a restaurant. The area is quite smokey, which is very different to the UK ban on smoking indoors. Again the business lounge was very disappointing and therefore much nicer out in the main lounge.

Flight called on time and then bused out to the plane. Only business was allowed to use the front steps, which meant every row form 4 backwards had to use the back ones. Doors shut early and then we sat there due to air traffice delays - odd given that there were no planes waiting to take-off. Orange juice offered pre-take off (could have asked for something stronger but a little too early). Once we were airbourne, breakfast appeared fairly quickly - typical Croatian food, which wasn't that appealing that morning. Offered papers - US herald and an out of date FT. Once the breakfast tray was cleared, was offered lots of coffee and sat back reading my book. This time there was 3 of us in 12 seats, but the service was equally as good.

Landing at Heathrow was slightly late, then began the usual nightmare of LHR. Sat on the plane for about 35 minutes waiting for a gate. Immigration very fast (through IRIS) and then a 30 minute wait for the bags to re-appear. Typical LHR showing just how bad the service is.

Only one other niggle.....there is no arrivals shop at LHR Terminal 2!
