Sitting in seat 67J, the last row window seat which I chose over a middle seat and I'm very happy that I did as I've got a load of space down the side with the window and I can recline as far as I like without having to think about anyone else. Virgin should learn a lot from Air New Zealand, they are partners after all. The gate to gate entertainment is a dream, still not quite up to the best I've seen, I can't create a library of things to watch but it's good quality and a good selection.
The food was great, main course served in Chinaware and good solid (if plastic) cutlery. Plentiful red wine with top up run before I'd even finished.
Moroccan pasta salad for starter then Moroccan chicken with mash and it was hot, moist and actually very tasty.
The In Flight Concierge was a bit of fun and about half-way through the flight he announced a cheese and wine tasting with all the wines from Business Premier and the cheeses that they had on board, as we were known to them as a travel industry group we were invited up first and had about 5 minutes there before people wanted to know what was going on and why other people were getting things they weren't and they were entitled to! Oh I love people on aircraft, they become animals.
Watched a load of movies, Hot Tub Time Machine (average), Deliverance (Excellent), Wall Street (Good), The Invention of Lying (average), some of Karate Kid (Fell asleep), Marmaduke and Shrek 3 (Tried to get into them and couldn't) and a few of the TV programs, Family Guy and then managed to get a whole episode of Vicar of Dibley in between landing and getting off the plane, reminder to self never to sit at back on US flights.
Got off and then got through to immigration queue, huge, snaking around the whole of the hall and then out into the corridor towards the plane. Took well over an hour to be grunted at by a surly man and sent on our way. One of our group was asked why we were just transiting and not staying in the US, was something wrong with US?!
Bags had been tagged through but, as US, needed to be picked up before joining a second queue for the bags to be checked by customs. No probs with this and then as soon as through here, put on a conveyor belt and the bags would be whisked off from T2 to Tom Bradley but we had to walk. Not too far and went past a very amusing dog rest area with a fake fire hydrant for them to pee on!
Arrived into Tom Bradley where we got our FJ boarding cards (BUBBLE!!) and then had a bite to eat, staying landside as long as possible.
Move to the red side...
