After a couple of days in Pavia, just north of Milan, it was time to head back to the UK. We had a taxi pick-up which dropped us off at the airport very early. Picked up boarding cards - needed to get from desk as no self-service machines.

Milan Linate airport is very old and seems much more of a "low cost" airport. There is a club galleries lounge in there, which looks like it has been recently renovated and updated. It is very nice in there, with free WiFi, although there is no toilet in there (similar to the silly situation in Edinburgh).

Flight was called on time and you have to go through immigration to a small waiting area with four "bus gates". It seems that all of the UK flights go from this area. There is additional random screening, with confiscation of liquids over 100mls not bought in airport shops (even though already screened in the main security). Someone at the gate was trying to sweet-talk the gate assistants into a free upgrade to Club Europe (no chance).

The flight left on time - short taxi out as not a very busy airport. After take-off, there was the usual drinks service. The flight passed relatively quickly doing a little bit of work and reading Hi Life. We had the emergency exit row on this flight, which meant that there was extra leg room (better than in Club Europe overall). Landed and luckily taxied to Terminal 5A, so no need for a bus / transit back to security.

Flight was uneventful and typical BA Euro Traveller flight.

Ah, Linate. Probably the most controversial airport in Italy. I love the convenience of its closeness to town, of course; the facilities are what they are since the locals decided to invest in MXP - only to see AZ pull the plug on it as its main hub, and eventually disappear completely from there.

Interesting to see they went through with the Galleries upgrade, clearly the location is ensuring BA reverts fully to using it as its primary spot in Milan. Thanks for the report.
