Just a quick TR really to document my impressions of WT plus after so long, and some key points of interest.

This trip was just me, travelling to a friends wedding reception in Bermuda - so out on Fri, back on Sun. Bit mad really, but there you go!

Arrived at LGW by train, and had easy transfer to North terminal. The shuttle was regular, and mostly empty.

BA check in was highly efficient, and agent being very friendly, polite, and really quite chatty.

With no bags to check in, I had boarding pass in hand and on the way to security within about 3 minutes of having arrived at the check in area.

Should say, that I had actually checked in online, but didn’t bother with boarding card printing etc, which is why I needed to go to the desk.

Rapidly through security, and had around 30/40 minutes to wait before called to gate for boarding.

Wandered along to the gate, and boarding in progress - seemed quite orderly, and I was seated in 21D before very long at all.

Again, staff were meeting/greeting at the door, and seemed quite friendly and helpful, nothing really to comment on.

A little while before takeoff, someone arrived at my seat with boarding card in hand, that also said 21D, with his wife holding 21E. It would appear that ground staff had allocated 21D twice - well, the cabin crew took this well and handled it very professionally, but I wonder how this managed to happen -- especially as the same thing happened on the return leg!!!!

So, an interesting side issue, that was managed very smoothly by the staff on board, but shouldn’t really ever have happened.

Take-off on time - boy, those B777s have got some power - I’d quite forgotten!

Hot towels meals, drinks all in order. The food was a little disappointing, plastic cuttlery and all - I’d say it’s on a level with that for economy on VS.
Second drinks (and third) offerred, really good on that front - but no bubbles before takeoff!

Seat had nice recline, and was very comfortable. The one thing that annoyed me was the narrow arms - about twice the armrest width as economy, but far narrower than that on VS PE.

Couldn’t really comment on seat pitch as I had the bulkhead seat, and that had bags of legroom.

I found the crew very professional, quite willing to have a chat, and they did their job well.

The obvious comparison is with VS PE - and it is not as good a product I’d say. The prices are pretty much comparible, so unless a good deal comes along, it would be VS where possible - if they fly the route that is.

For all the things I’ve read about grumpy cabin crew etc, I’ve never really had that issue on BA, and actually found the crew on this flight highly engaged, being quite ready to share a joke and chat; above all, they did the job very well indeed.

The flight was very full, the previous day’s flight had been cancelled due to a storm, so I couldn’t even say they had an easy time - they didn’t!

Overall, a very pleasant flight indeed and to be honest, a good advert for the dark side.

Watch out for my return TR from the Club World cabin.

BDA for a few days, very impressed!

Sounds like a fairly good experience overall, pleased to see the BA crew have acquired personalities!

Agree that the VS PE is far superior to WT+.

Hope the wedding was good, thanks for the TR.

Wow - awesome mini-trip destination! Sounds like a decent BA experience, my dealings with them have varied from good through to cabin crew that wanted to be somewhere else!
Have always been disappointed with the BA WT+ after using VS but I hear they are revamping it to compete.

Thanks for the TR
