US1631: Newark to Tampa (makes 1 stop in Charlotte)
Aircraft: B737-400
Seats: 20A&B

This is the continuation of our trip to Tampa which began on the VS17.

This was originally a Continental 'non-stop' booking, but we were re-booked for free on US when CO cancelled their departure and moved us to another flight 5 hours later.

When I tried to do OLCI, US airways didn't recognise my booking, but a panicked 45 minutes on the phone later it was sorted out.

After some sleep at the Marriot it was an early start for the 6.30 departure. We arrived at Terminal A about an hour before departure, straight to security with out home-printed boarding passes. A fairly length wait at security and no issues with hand luggage as on the VS flight. We had time for some breakfast in the terminal before boarding.

The cabin of the 737 was best described as 'retro' but to be fair it was clean. After a delay for de-icing we took off in to the sleety skies for the 1h 30m trip to Charlotte. The cabin crew were quite friendly, and offered a drink to everyone even though the flight was pretty choppy at times.

When we landed at Charlotte we decided to get off the aircraft and stretch our legs. We were allowed to leave our hand luggage in the lockers, just taking our valuables and boarding passes. The second leg to Tampa was a bit shorter than the first with much the same service. We arrived on time at about 11.10am.

I was pleased to see 998 FC miles already in my account when we returned home.

In short, US Airways were perfectly reasonable for a short trip like this, and earning VS miles was a bonus.
