So with my final "work" Christmas party taken care it was 0400 when my alarm was going off for me to make it across to Heathrow to catch the 0700 flight to Leeds.

Now I am not sure why on earth the 0700 flight was booked on a Saturday morning when a lunchtime flight was available but it was and it was a ticket that couldn't be changed easily so it was a matter of making do........ ;)

So across to Heathrow and arrived at just after 0530 at terminal 1. I was welcomed warmly in the BA check in area and was addressed by name....the load was confirmed as "light" so was offered the chance to change my seat if I wished. I stuck with 4A.

Through to security which was rather busy with lots of people going away for Christmas and lots of people going skiing.

No lounge access as blue with BA. So went to Costa and grabbed a coffee and a muffin. T1 is showing its age and thankfully won't be around too much longer.

Boarding was called at 0635 and again boarding pass scanned and name used and cheery goodbye. Welcomed at the door after a trip down a very damp airbridge at the door by the senior crew member who was really chatty and bubbly.

Only 23 passengers on this early morning shuttle so doors closed and pushed back a few mins early. A manual safety demonstration on this A319 which looked rather new and the seats the same as the inbound, pretty comfortable.

I had a row to myself as did every other passenger. The cabin crew of 4 were all attentive, polite and really friendly.

A longish taxi and then a short take off run had us airborne at 0717. The seat belt signs were off pretty quickly.

A hot sausage and tomato roll was offered - far better IMO than the UC bacon roll - an offer of tea/coffee, juice and water with refills too.

A flight time of 39mins and the crew worked really hard to get the service done.

Touched down at 0757 and straight onto one of the airbridge stands at Leeds.

The captain was out again to say goodbye and we were all wished a Happy Christmas.

Another really short sample of the BA service but once again I was impressed. A great friendly crew, well done BA.

I hope the route works for BA, it will be good for me when flying out of Heathrow which is often and has received lots of promotion regionally.

It has given me confidence that based on these two short hops BA has improved but accept some more research will be needed.... ):

Nice read. I wonder if they were bmi staff as I always recall them being very cheerful folk, although it seems from start to finish they were good.

I am flying BA domestic myself in two weeks, then J Europe in Feb. Will update!

I did wonder if they were ex-bmi staff as I agree they always tended to be friendly and liked a joke or two........... :D

Look forward to your TRs.
