Sorry if this is not an appropriate question for the forum - please feel free to delete but am at a loss as to where to find help.

We have a BT Voyager 2091 wireless modem and router. We have set up a wireless network but the signal on the computer not directly connected to the modem is very temperamental. So we bought a wireless range extender in the hope that this would help, but the instructions that came with it were not very relevant to the BT Voyager modem. The wireless range extender we bought was a Belkin.

Bear in mind that I am technically incapable but my son has and has spoken to BT doesn't seem to be getting anywhere with them.

If you have any help or advice it would be gratefully received.

Hi Jilly,

We have a large wireless network (Belkin Router) which is extended by Belkin access points. I think (although some one will probably tell me otherwise ;)) that the belkin access points may be suitable only for a belkin router.

I had a lot of hastle setting them up in the control panel on the router - you can only add a max of 4 access points to one router - but now they are all there, it works great.

(it might be something to do with the ip addresses - you might find that the access point ip address is the same as the router address - althought I might be completely wrong [:w])

Sorry for the garble if all this turns out to be incorrect [:I]

Thanks for your help David. You may be correct, but still investigating other options at the minute. Have had telephone conversations with Voyager and Belkin and getting conflicting advice at the moment, Belkin say they are not compatable but BT say they are - my son is working on the problem having been given some other tips from Voyager.

The only solid option we had was to wire the products - not exactly practical when we live in a bungalow and the two desktops are over 60ft apart! Sort of defeats the object of the exercise.

Off to treat the headache!!
