Hi,

[?]Can anyone personally recommend some noise cancelling headphones?

How good are they for cancelling out the ambient noise in an aircraft, and are they good for listening to music too.

thanks

Hi Mark,

Welcome to V-flyer, good to have you on board[y]

There have been some posts about this in the past and this one appears to contain some good information.

As you get comfy with the site I am sure you will find alsorts of things that are useful to you - the search facilitywill help as a great starting point - try it out with the words "headphones" or "noise cancelling" and see where it takes you!!!

Have fun!![y]

It all depends on how much your willing to spend! You won't find better then the new Bose Quiet Comfort 3, but then you will find cheaper - depends on the balance you want to make between cost and effectiveness.

When i've been in UC i've found the freeby UC ones to be more effective then earplugs myself.

Im with Fozzyo on this one, the Bose are by far the best around, but then they aren't cheap, here is the info about them although shopping around they can usually be found a bit cheaper but not much.

As fozzyo also said about the UC ones, there have been a few threads about them, so if you do a search then you will be able to read those also.

Sometimes you have to play around with the word or words you put in the search box and also whether you ask the site to search by "subject only" or "entire message"

I would recommend the Senheiusser (sp) NR headphones. As good as my QC2's in most respects, but much smaller when packed up. The only negative relative to the QC2's is that they are a little less comfortable. Cannot comment on QC3's.

Are the QC3s worth trading my QC2s in for (in terms of actual performance) or it it just a size thing?

Just a size thing. (I've kept my QC2s - which have broken again on the arm band ratchet. But service just gets better -they now send a prepaid UPS label for return!). Mrs D had QC1s and they were too bulky for her handbag.

Thanks Decker -my handbag is like the bottomless pit (even had a pair of "sensible":D shoes in it on Saturday evening!) so as there's no actual performance enhancement with the QC3s I'll stick with what I've got.

After reading about the Bose QC3's I might have to buy some. Does anyone know if I can buy some at LHR? and roughly I would save buying them at the airport rather than the highstreet or internet.

Thanks

Doubt it Mark, only really Dixons Duty Free in the main terminal and very much doubt they will have any. Best to get before hand, best to buy off the net as you will get the cheapest price, maybe Amazon?

Good choice though[y]

Just to pimp the QC 2/QC 3's a little, for the last few years I used a set of Awia headphones, they worked cutting down the noise and were ok to wear.I broke down and gota set of QC'2s a couple of months ago and it was like slipping into a nice quiet different world, very good headphones.

My quest for bose headphones continues[}:)][}:)][}:)]

I am being a little niave to think that now that the OC3's are on the shelves, there might be a chance that the 2's could be discounted[:w][:w]

That would not be niave. It is in fact how a cheap skate like me picked up QC2's, in abu dhabi in my case. They also threw in a CD player as well as the sale price, which I have never used.

Both times I have flown UC, I have had economy headphones. This was on the LGW-LAS route if it makes a differance.
