Wii Help

Not exactly travel technology but can anyone tell me if Wii Games are compatible between the US and UK.
I want to buy a couple of games whilst in San francisco this week because of the great exchange rate but I need to make sure they will work on my UK Wii Console.

Wii games are region coded so you won't be able to play games bought in the US on your UK Wii.

Nope, the Wii is region locked, as my parents found out earlier on in the year after buying some games when we were in NYC. You can mod chip the Wii which will allow it to run games from other regions and home brew software, but of course its illegal.

The DS is region free, so you can buy anywhere in the world (although China games are region coded). Originally Nintendo announced the Wii was going to be but then changed their mind.

Just watch out on the DS as if you buy in the US, the power adaptor is nor multi-voltage. Fortuantely we have a step down transformer. I beleive you can get a USB charging cable...

If anyone is looking for a Wii, Amazon in Germany and France have stock, with shipping taking a week from order, it comes in just a touch cheaper thsn the UK high street (if you can find one)

Some feedback on this, checking out other forums, there has been some talk of Amazon in Germany stop shipping Wii's to the UK. My one ordered from France, was shipped from Amazon in Germany, and arrived yesterday.
