What Linux Live CD?

Hi all,

I'm off to Sao Paulo tomorrow, and I don't want to take two laptops, but I can't do some things on my work laptop like view DivX media files, access chat sites, etc. So, does anyone recommend a good Linux Live CD that I can boot from? With everything I should need, like Firefox, good media player, etc?

My laptop has Safeboot, so it won't be able to access my hard drive, so as long as it doesn't try and do anything to my disc, I should be ok.

How much have you used Linux?

To be fair, I dont think you can go wrong with Ubuntu. I used an Ubuntu Live CD at work for months and was totally impressed by it - so much so that i forgot i was running a live disc as I'd downloaded and installed so many programs and made a number of modifications. Ubuntu comes with an IM client, Firefox, OpenOffice ... everything you should need really ... and if its not there, just hit the repositories. You can also save your sessions to a USB stick on later distributions.

Ubuntu is a very good and stable disty but also rather easy to use and there are lots of forums for tips ad hints. Every Linux user has their own preferred disty, Ubuntu is easily one of mine.

Will give it a go. I used to be a Solaris Admin, so I'm familiar with most of the commands, just need some way to bypass my companies policies without them knowing! [:w].
