First off, new nano. Up to 8GB, and strangely reminiscent of the "mini" that everyone loved so much. Smaller, lighter, 24hr play time, 40% brighter screen (yup, they changed the lightbulb ;))

Then, new shuffle. No capacity increase (still 1GB) but looks pretty neat...

iTunes has also had a make-over. Auto-find of existing CD-ripped album artwork is very handy, plus the ability to download full-length movies.

Still no announcement on the "full" iPod Video, but Christmas is still a little way away... [:w]

(Oh, and not "announced" today, but handy to know - a new Apple Store is due to open soon in West Quay, Southampton [y])

Love the clip on shuffle Paul!

And of course - it would be WAY to early to let us near the stuff Santa brings!

Haven't laughed out loud at a website for a long time. The Branson bit is very funny but its all beautiful. Iam the definitive iPod class passenger on VS,

http://fakesteve.blogspot.com/2006_08_0 ... chive.html

search for branson and you find: -

"we're gonna create a new section on Virgin Atlantic, right behind Upper Class, and call it iPod Class. The whole section is redone in that glossy candy white color like an iPod. The walls, the seat backs, the seat cushions, the carpet, the bathrooms, everything in bloody shiny white, like you're sitting smack inside an iPod. We throw in some fake champagne and cheap sushi and bang up the fare price by 30 percent over coach, or Lower Class as we're now calling it. "

I would fly ipod class. Im not ashamed.

My friend who works for the Apple store in Manchester has 'heard' that there won't be any new anncounments now (ie Video iPod announcements) until the beginning of November at the earliest, so it does look like Apple are going to make us wait and really to and cash in on the xmas market (not a bad idea with the PS3 now not arriving[V])

btw Im liking to the new shuffle, is owning 4 iPods to many do you think[:w]

Neil, that's like having three Macs and two PCs in a house of 2, plus another four iPods!

The Shuffle is a seriously good bit of design and engineering, however I'm awaiting the full screen new iPod due before Christmas (he rumours), and then I'll be queuing overnight at the Apple Store to pick one up!

I'm glad i'm not the only one who likes a lot of technology!. As for queueing overnight, do what i did, make a friend who works in an Apple store, I don't really like the guy but he very useful!! (I am joking btw, he is actually a best mate - just incase he happens to read this[:I])

A friend who is a bit of an Apple obsessive hates the new Nano. His reason? "Its so early noughties!"

The new shuffle looks really good, if he clip is strong enough much better for gym / running / cycling use. Unfortunate for those that bought they Lego iPod Shuffle case, but i'm sure they still love them.

Guardian On-Line think there will be an announcement on the new iPod "in a few weeks", Apple have patented some new touch screen technology this year so that is a possibility.

iTunes 7 is much better than previous versions, now even has iPod software updater built in, which you will need to update your vid iPod once using iTunes 7.

You can now also buy games for your vid iPod too, although $4.99 in the US compared to £3.99 in the UK for the same game [:(!]

From what I have seen/heard about the games they don't look that great, iPod for music, PSP for games[y][y] IMO they should stick to what they are good at.

One other small thing - the iPod video 60GB has now been increased to 80GB (more videos... [:w]). The 30GB remains the same.

Been ringing round all the Apple stores in Miami. None of them have the 80GB iPod in stock, and don't know when they will [:(]. Will try to get one before I leave on Sunday - same price as the 30GB in the UK [y].

Yes the 60GB is now 80GB so gives you more, but it does cost you more too, surely you wouldn't expect Apple to give you anything for free;)

Er, yes actually (once they are actually available in the stores) [y]. Two weeks ago on the Apple UK web site, the 60GB iPod was £299. The 80GB is now £259. I have been meaning to buy one for a while, but a) knew that there was a new release imminent and b) knew that I could get them cheaper in Miami where I am now. I did a price comparison to decide if the difference in cost was worth the agro of getting one in the US. In the US, the 60GB iPod was $399 plus tax. The 80GB is now $349 plus tax. I will save £60 if I can get one here before I fly back on Sunday. Even if i declare it at Customs [:I] I will still save a few...

Woo hoo! New iPod's now in store in Miami. I have bagged me a sleek black 80Gb model and have been playing with it mucho! $374 = £199, so saved myself £60. I like the way they no longer include country specific bits, so everything I got in the box I can use - don't have to throw anything away [y].

Can't say I@m too impressed with ITunes v7 - main complaints:
1. On the old versions, the "play" button became "Import" when you put a CD into the drive. Now it seems the only way to rip is to find the "Convert to AAC" menu option.

2. I spend all that time downloading album artwork and:
a) The coverage is very poor
b) The only artwork that syncs across to my nano is the new stuff. Do I have to rebuild my playlist to make this work?

3. I can't find the way to play a whole album. I browse to get the album up, click play and either nothing happens, or I have to click on a track to play, then do the same with the next track.

Can ayone tell me where I've gone wrong.
