Ah, they're slightly different things, Alan.

The belkin (and griffin, + others) units transmit the iPod's music TO a radio, on a specific channel. (Something which is still illegal to own equipment for or do in the UK without a license, but the goverment are working on approving low-powered devices to help with this)

The Apple remote (launched this week) is a device that picks up regular radio stations to listen to through the iPod. It doesn't transmit, only recieves - and is therefore available in all AppleStores.

Careful now. The rock slinging between Mac & Wintel users has been a battle akin to which religion you prefer. Somebody's bound to get hurt if it continues too far ;)

BTW, V-Flyer is designed and coded on a Mac.

You considering switching to Intel yet, Pete?

Both formats have been around for a while now, I wonder what is next "big thing" to replace both systems?
Do we have to wait until a radical new motherboard/chipset replacement comes along and computers operate in a new way I wonder? (too much Star Trek in my youth I think! ) :-)

Organic computing - it's the future, Jim, just not as we know it... ;)

Alan your right, both systems have been around for a while,of course now Apple has seen the light and is switching to intel chips and the performance is up...hang on how can that be though as Mr Jobs said, the G5 IS the fastest there is...anyhows..from playing with an imac at the Apple store here in Vegas when Pete,Onionz etc were out I can see therre is a lot to like,so i'll try and get a hold of the Tiger universal OS and have a play with it.

I watched the keynote last night (Steve Jobs is a showman, so I always look forward to them, even though I sadly can't be there in person anymore). The MacBook certainly sounds as though it's got the performance, but the whole 'universal' thing scares me off diving in too early. Even Jobs admitted that Photoshop runs ok, but not the sort of thing you'd enjoy if you live and breathe the application. Whilst I don't live and breathe it, I do need to use it from time to time, and I'd kind to like to avoid more than half my applications having to go through the performance hit you see in Virtual PC.

That said, my PowerBook 15" is getting on for 2 years old and I probably will replace it this year since it's my main "business machine" (plus plays a decent game of World of Warcraft!). I think I'll hang on until the majority of the software developers have caught up, and also when I'v had a chance to see how much all that upgrading is going to hurt my wallet. It's not just the hardware cost; even Apple want $49 to 'crossgrade' their Final Cut Pro suite of apps to a universal version (no new features, just one that will run natively on the Intel chip). It could get a bit pricey, although the 4x-5x speed gain is enough to warrant an investigation.
