As such, yeah it does a good job.

I think I said that (several times) in this thread ;)

I thought the idea of the I Pad was to make it affordable ): ): That said, if you are going to spend that sort of money on technology, then best you invest in decent protection :D :D

In Florida at the moment and popped into the Apple Store today. Played with the Ipad for about 2 minutes and I had to have it. I'm sat looking at it now whilst it synchs up to my itunes.

It's a stunning looking thing and I'm sure it will have a few shortcomings, and I probably don't need one, but I'm sure within a couple of weeks I'll wonder how I ever lived without it.

If you like gadgets and have money in your pocket and you have a play with one, you'll struggle not to buy it.

No Neil you don't "want" it you "need" it - I may want to go shopping for a pair of shoes for work but I emotionally and physically need to buy Jimmy C's for the evening!

Well I saw a couple of iPads up close and personal at the Gadget Show Live today and I think it is absolutely superb. I've made my mind up I'm going to get one in Miami in a couple of weeks especially as Apple have announced multitasking in their OS4 update later in the year.

One thing though, I'm still interested to see what the pricing will be for the UK, is the consensus that it'll be the usual $ to £ parity?

O/S 4.0 wont be available for the iPad until the Autumn.

I've also read somewhere that the iPad software updates will be like iPod Touch ones, in that you have to pay for the major updates and just get the minor updates for free. Not sure if there's any truth in this though?

Link.

Seems Apple have delayed the international launch of the iPad for one month until the end of May now. They are sayingit is due to high demand in the US, but is the real reason because of all the reported problems :?

I think it's demand - if they have sold 500k + of units, that's a lot of pressure on the manufacturing factories to keep things moving. Perhaps they didn't realise how successful it was going to be!?

I think that US sales are a credible reason - I hear that sales have far outstripped forecast, and there are real supply chain issues in getting supply to other markets. Most new gadgets have staggered global releases for this reason ...

We bought a couple when we were there a few days after release. No problems so far except the UC headphones wouldn't work with them. Luckily we all carry our own anyway so just used those.

I have heard of no problems at all with it, Mrs Scrooge may be getting one as a surprise present next month, not because I particularly like the thing, but I dislike carrying two suitcases of books even more.
