Upper Class - What to Expect

I've read the website and the forums here, but what can we really expect from upper class. We're going from JFK to LHR in August 2007 and we're curious if the seats will be refurbished, if the amenity kit will have changed (I think I saw this somewhere), and if any additional amenities are going to be offered? Also, does anyone know if VA is planning on taking any amenities away?

Hi and welcome to the forum[y].

A good tip as a new member would be to use the sites excellent search funtion and see if there are any similar threads that might be able to answer your question.

this thread is just one that will give you some answers and there are quite a few others out there too.

Also a really good tip is to read some of the Trip Reports that other V-Flyers have done, this will give you a great insight into flying UC and also will give you some great info/tips.

Welcome to the forum. As Neil has said there are some excellent tips and trip reports on the flights from JFK (I've just posted one myself)

To answer your specific queries, if you are in UC you will get the suites which are just great. They have only been introduced gradually into the fleet over the last few years so apart from any design modifications or refurbishment due to wear and tear they are not likely to change. It is the Premium Economy seats which are currently being replaced.

We have been told that the current amenity kit is being modified asthere have been many complaints about them but when that is to happen we do not know.

If you are flying from JFK, unless you are on a day flight there will be a Snooze Zone. On the 747 it is in the upstairs section of UC; in the 346 it is the front of the cabin and in the 343 it is behind the main UC cabin. In the Snooze Zone the aim is to allow people who wish to do so to get to sleep as soon as possible after take-off. There will be no meal service there - although you can eat at the bar. Instead you will be offered a nightcap. The other alternatives for the rest of the cabin are a cold tray of a light bite or a hot tray which will have a full meal selection. The aim is to have the lights off after an hour following take-off.

Thanks for the info. One more question - If my wife and I are flying on the Airbus plane, are there 2 seats that are easy for us to see/talk with one another without having to sit on the ottoman?

The suites don't lend themselves that easily to conversation. I have generally found that it is easier with one sitting behind the other rather than across the aisle. I have to say. though that anytime I have been on an Airbus I have been sitting facing the wall so I don't know how easy conversation is across the aisle
