Hi all

Does anyone know if either the A340-600 or 747-400 have the individual air vents fitted in PE?

As I can book my flights on either aircraft I would appreciate it if anyone can recall seeing them as I always find the cabins pretty hot!

(I appreciate any scheduled aircraft type is of course subject to change).

Thanks for any advice.

From what I can tell, all the VS aircraft are fitted with gasper vents (that's the trade name for those overhead air nozzles) in the overhead service unit.

The only place on VS aircraft that I haven't seen them is over the central bank of seats in Upper Class on the A340 fleet, and this is because there aren't any overhead bins in the centre. They are fitted at all other seats as far as I know.

These vents are getting less and less common though. A lot of airlines don't specify them anymore, because it saves money (in terms of energy and maintenance), reduces weight and maintenance costs, and makes for a quieter cabin.

A trend to be strongly opposed should the bean counters at VS ever consider this [V]

All VS aircraft have the airvents including 747 and 340, as was mentioned before the centre seats in Upper Class dont have any.

I was surprised on my recent flight with BA that there were no air vents above my seat on the BA747.

Gasper Vent -- a great name for a character in a novel.

But, furiously spinning the wheel to get this rattling old Routemaster back on the macadam...it has always amazed me that 777s have the center section vents sooooooooo far up there above your head. It can't possibly be as good a direct blast of air as those positioned lower (737, et al). I've also found that the Boeing gasper vents (swoon...) deliver a more powerful direct blast than those of Airbus.

Losing vents would be a travesty. There's nothing better than being the last to board, covered in sweat, plopping down in the middle seat between two morbidly obese WoW fans, and getting that blast of cold air in the face. Ahhh, travel...

Touche about the 340s - Boeing do this sooo much better. As for the last comment, whatever bites your biscuit dear! I prefer a cup of tea to such S&Mming.
