Tagged onto the USA economy and PE sale, some UC destinations have now been added.

Return travel from
London Heathrow to Flight number Sale fare from Departure dates

New York (JFK) 3/4/9/10/45/46 1332 16 Dec - 05 Jan 09

New York(Newark) 1/2/17/18 1332 16 Dec - 05 Jan 09

Chicago 39/40 1837 16 Dec - 05 Jan 09

Los Angeles 7/8/23/24 1807 16 Dec - 05 Jan 09

I have been waiting for an UC sale to book a ticket to the West Coast in Novomber. I was disapppointed this sale didnt cover November, but I thought I would look at the price matrix to see if November prices had changed despite being outside of the sale period.

And they had [^]

Earlier this week, with being flexible with outbound and return dates, Z fares were ~2400. Now the matrix is showing ~1800 for nearly all combos of outbound/return during November.

Sadly when I went to book the prices had increased to ~2500 on all the 1800 combos I tried booking, despite the matrix still showing 1800.

My question to the Gurus is, when new prices are loaded is this sort of glitch common ? I have never before had a price increase occur from what was showing in the matrix, maybe I have been lucky on previous occassions ?

Working fine for me, all on 3 destinations, maybe try again? Could just have been a small glitch whilst the fares were being loaded??

Hmmm, those sale fares are only valid 16th Dec - 5th Jan! Might be the reason they don't work for February!

I don't like the VS online booking system. I haven't used it since they stopped giving online booking discounts / extra points.

I find the best thing to do is get a price from the site and then ring the Flying Club, though I do appreciate that this is often not such a good option, if you don't have a AG / Au card and are not booking in UC. [n]

Yes thank you Neil for your observation ......but like nevadakaz I have also been checking prices out side of that range recently and last week it was showing nearly £1600 for return UP flights, where as now the matrix shows £1300.

I tried a dummy UC booking earlier today for LHR-JFK return in mid-October (a day or two after the 42 day cutoff for a Z fare). The price matrix on the VS website was returning near giveaway UC fares of £1331 return. If you tried to book, the fare jumped up to £2600+ (D fare both ways).

Something is clearly not right in the VS website booking engine.

It seems as though the matirx is returning sale fares for all dates to sale destinations.

Only when you prgress beyond the matrix are the correct prices loaded/returned.

Hopefully this will be rectified soon.
