Having booked two outright G's some time ago, I swapped them for 2 revenue flights as the sale fares meant the use of miles wasn't the best value anymore.

The original flights were cancelled with a promise of the return of fees, etc and the new ones booked, including the prevailing taxes at the time of the new booking.

So YQ is down by 25 from 186 to 161, GB (the APD) is the same at 80, but the 'other' fees and taxes (lumped together under XT) have risen from 31.40 to 59.50 - i.e. 28.10. So despite the drop in fuel surcharge the combined total is now more than it was six months ago.[V]

I've lost the link I had to the site that unpicked the XT elements so don't know exactly what is the major factor. I know landing fees went up by about 2.50 per passenger this time last year but this is 28.10 more.

Any ideas - or might I have been overcharged?

Maybe something changed in the charges for landing / departure at your destination airport?

There has always been a difference between taxes+surcharges paid for reward and revenue flights but I dont know why though?

For Example:
Upper Class return flight departing LHR to JFK on 14/08/09

Reward fare taxes/fees = 275.70
Revenue fare taxes/fees = 300.50
