Afetr a very quick (and very cheap) BMI Baby flight from edi down to bhx this morning, I spotted a 'Virgin tail' sticking out the back of hanger.

It was probably an airbus a340-300 - does VS have maintainance contracts at BHX or is there something else [}:)]

Coincidently (maybe) there was around half a dozen Virgin models (planes, cars, vans steps etc)for sale in the duty free.

It wasn't a VS aircraft you saw. The 744's have maintenance carried out at AMS and the 346's are ferried to Manilla, Philippines for maintenance. I think the 343's are done in Dublin.

What you saw was the tail of the Virgin Nigeria Embraer E190 that is currently in BHX for maintenance.

Last week she was involved in a bird strike in Nigeria and was flown up to BHX for skin repairs.

There is a picture of her landing at BHX here courtesy of German aviation site Skyliner

Ahh [y], it was quite a way away from the main terminal and didn't look too large a plane, but that explains it.

thanks

Good one, here, from Manila, I can report a sighting of a Virgin 346 earlier this week [:D].

The 343s also go to LHT in Manila these days for heavy checks.
