Yes it is still worth doing as you get the earlier choice of seat by doing it online rather than leaving it until you arrive at the airport.

Staff are used to people ariving having done OLCI and who have forgotton to bring it to the airport or like happened to me a year or so ago my printer decided to go on strike and not print anything.

I never print off my boarding pass after OLCI and prefer to get it at check in. The first time I did this the check-in agent said she preferred to give passengers a 'proper' boarding pass and in any case some of the home printed ones didn't scan properly

Thanks for the advice. Just done it online - got 63A which will hopefully give me some extra room according to fellow member's seat ratings!!. Although I will do my usual trick of waiting until CI closes at the gate and put myself forward for the exit row!!

Out of interest, does anyone else do this!?

I have always had my printed boarding pass from OLCI replaced at check-in at MAN.

On my last flight, they said it was because to use the fast-track security channel you need a boarding pass with a magnetic strip to feed into the machine (similar to the London Underground turnstiles in the stations) to get into the fast-track lane. A home printed boarding pass with a barcode on is no good here.

the home printed boarding passes are a pain, people loose them, wonder why we tear them halfway (makes it easier for the gate staff) etc. I prefer the proper ones, less hassel at the gate when it comes to counting them and making sure everyones on.
