I just booked LHR->BOS + JFK->LHR. When I phoned up, I said I wanted to pay for economy (the only thing my company will pay for) and then use 20000 miles for the upgrade.

Now, I've got a U-class ticket and I'm left wondering if I'm going to get the tier points for the economy part of the ticket.

Usually, I've done upgrades after booking (although never with miles) and I've always got the economy portion.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

Yes you will earn tier points and miles based on the economy fare code you paid with money.

You should get the points/tier points based on the economy ticket that you paid - one thing is that the computer system doesn't seem to do this automatically, so you will need to phone Flying Club to get them added after the trip.

Awesome - Thanks for the quick reply!

I'm about 2 points off silver so they would have had a grumpy customer!

Cheers!

Remember to call a few days after you get back, as gingerflyer says. The upgrade issue has been around for years, and is well known to the FC staff.
