So i fly 2 times a month Tokyo Heathrow route, never before have i not been able to get the flight i require, but on the 28th jan 2010 there is no flights on this route and also the weekend after, so can anyone tell me why, is there some sort of scheduled maintenence on the planes!! and also is there any way to get a heads up in the future.

Regards

Do you mean 'no flights' as in the flight is not operating or that there are no seats in the cabin of your choice?

I don't think VS would cancel a route just because of maintenance. Maybe there is some big event in Tokyo that is soaking up all the seats?

They will make 'Ad-hoc Cancellations' for a flight or two every so often if they have a few days with minimal sales so they can reprotect people onto the flight the day before or after. Now with the codeshare with ANA there is less of an impact in doing this especially as the NRT - LON flights are timed almost exactly the same.

When I get into work tomorrow I will hunt out when they advised us that it was not operating on that date.

Thanks eejp, that would be helpful to know. Because i always upgrade from premium economy full flex ticket to upper using miles, i would be stuck on ANA i think because i cannot use FC miles on there if i am correct.

I'm trying to remember if the ANA flight is one of the new 773's, if it is, grab a seat on that one, Y is good, PE is very good, J is, well very very good.

Not fair!! Just because I leave all my work stuff at work, I couldn't tell you that!
ANA have launched their new 777-300 on New York from 20 Feb 10. This has a much better business class with real fully flat seats as opposed to angled which they still have on LHR - NRT.
They are also doing very cool things like ordering your food and drinks on your 17' monitor, have a decent sized table now and a shelf next to you. They even have a USB connector and an i-pod port in all classes on this so you can listen to any music on any device and watch video from i-pod only. Great innovations to keep people amused.
They had hoped to launch all of this on the B787 but it is a little slow....
