VS Type Changes for MIA route Question

Hi,

Ive noticed that VS5/6 is currently using A346. I have now booked UCS for this route in late March and also July and August.

Does anyone know if they are planning or likely to switch the type again, and if so out of interest what is the reason behing it.

If they are going switch the type I also notice there are a few different configs of VS 744.

MIA is operated by both the A346 and the 747's. The 747's usually operate over the summer months, and then it switches to the A346 for the winter schedule, although one of the VS staff members will probably be able to confirm for certain.

Currently, there is only one config type operating out of LHR, which on our site, shows as the LHR 747 config 4. That config is due to change during the first half of this year with some of the UCS being removed from the back half of the upper deck to be replaced with some Y seats.

I'm travelling to MIA on Sat 24th July and that is currently a 747 although I have noticed that VS are operating around this time (July) 346's on Tu,W,Th and 747's on the other days of the week.

It will open on the 'new' config with a mox of UC and E on the top deck.

thanks for the linkj....how on earth is config 4 (upper deck) going to work? seems a strange thing to do.

That is something that has been discussed at length in this thread.

We fly this route all the time, mostly on A346's, and sometimes but less frequently on 747's. Our next flight on 25th March shows as a new booking as an A346 but on manage my booking is a 343. (Previously posted this). I have again spoken to the Premier Team who confirm that at present their screens are showing flights that week being operated at 343's. We have never ever flown a 343 on this route so I guess its a question of wait and see. Our homebound flight is a 747.

Have to admit its odd - when OLCI opens will we still be on a 343 and everyone else on a 346[:0] Watch this space.
