Booking seats?

Is it possible to book in advance specific seats for medical reasons (supported by doctor's certificate).

Mrs HWV is struggling with the results of a knee op so I am looking at trying to get those seats with more leg room ie row 75 in the bubble on a LGW 747.

The best thing you can do is call special assistance, they will be able to make a note in your booking. I can't see however that they will allow you to sit in an exit row seat, which row 75 is, as pax must be fully fit etc etc and if you want them because of a problem supported by a Drs note then it proves she is not fully able.

Special assistance tends to use bulkheads for pax with problems, which in PE will be downstairs in a middle 4, not something I imagine you want. Will the extra PE room not be sufficient?

Row 75 on the Upper Deck of a LGW 744 is an exit row which they will not give out to anyone with a medical condition.

Seats 81AC/HK downstairs have a lot more legroom than any other non exit PE seat including the bulkhead row on the Upper Deck.

How will she manage the stairs?

Special Assistance have allocated me row 70 (the front row of PE in the bubble) before now, lots of leg room. However, I did not have any mobility problems as such.

I believe you must have no mobility issues to be in the bubble though, at least that's what Special Assistance have advised me in the past.

I was however not actually allocated these seats until check-in opened (actually about 2 hours before online check-in opened I noticed my preselected seats had been moved to row 70).

Mrs HWV is not actually disabled, she has no problem with stairs etc. Since her last operation she finds the knee stiffens if she sits for too long without stretching her legs. Hence the desire for maximum legroom. She is having a steriod/painkiller injection into the knee joint (ugh!) shortly before our holiday so hopefully that will help alleviate matters.

When we travel to Vegas on a 747 we allways get allocated row 21 (economy) which is a bulkhead with plenty of room.
When you call special assistance to request a bulkhead they will ONLY speak to the passenger with special needs so the Mrs will have to call herself.
Its a pretty painless job as they will just ask her what her condition/needs are.
Last time we went in September they released the bulkhead reserved for her by mistake but the upshot was 200 in vouchers from cust relations as compensation when we returned.
In saying that tho, we have had the bulkhed allocated all other times it was requested and the airport staff at check-in were also very good asking if we needed any further help to get to the gate etc.
