We're in the early stages of planning a potential trip for December with a view to wiping out the miles stash on 3 Gs.

I've got enough VS miles for two of them, but will have to resort to BD miles for the third. I've never used BD miles before, so, am I right in assuming the this will have to be two separate bookings? And, if so, what would happen if I book one G with BD, only to find that availability of one (or both) of the other two has gone by the time I go to book with VS? Or is that just the luck of the draw...?

You can get VS to hold you some G's for 48hrs whilst you sort your BD miles ticket out. Just give UC reservations a call and they will effectively make a booking for you, you get a booking ref etc (although you don't give any payment info) but if you don't confirm it within the time agreed with the agent (usually 48hrs) then it just gets cancelled.

That should give you time enough to sort your other ticket out without worrying about losing the VS G's!

Neil, if lateral thinking were an Olympic sport you'd be a gold medal winner. Ta, you're a gent.

Well, I'm rather dismayed to report that - being the schmuck that I clearly am - I hadn't realised that BD don't have the same access to G availability that VS do. After managing to 'hold' 2 Gs with VS last night, I've just discovered that BMI can't offer me the third G that VS are still showing as available. Clearly a schoolboy error on my part, but one that's rather taken the shine off my day...
