I am about to book 2 x UC to MON in April for our honeymoon. From experimenting with purchasing more than 2 seats it would appear that UC is almost full.
My worry is that we may not be able to select seats together and my fiancee is not a confident flyer so would strongly prefer to sit in adjacent seats.
Are all UC seats available for pre-selection and will I find once I book that we are stuck with the last two seats in UC spread across the cabin.
If I phone Virgin can they help before I commit to the purchase?

Any help gratefully received.

Only 60% of seats are available for pre-selection, so the remaining 40% will become available at OLCI opening, 24 hours before the flight.

Calling Virgin probably won't help much, they will only have the same access to the seat plan that you can online, and whilst they might be able to make some sort of note in your booking, I don't imagine it will do that much for you.

The best thing to do would be to do OLCI at exactly 24 hours before your flight, if seats near each other still wasn't available then you could ask at the airport and they might be able to have a word with some other pax and see if they would be willing to move.

You should remember, that even if you can get some seats now that you like, they are only a request and you are not guaranteed to get them, VS do have the right to change seating requests for operation reasons.

Just one other thing I would suggest, sitting one behind another might be better, than way it is easier to talk to your travelling partner, rather than having to shout across the aisle, especially as the seats opposite each other aren't straight opposite always, there is a slight stagger.

Oh and where are you flying to? MON is Mount Cook Airport, not somewhere VS fly [;)]

It might be worth checking ExpertFlyer to see what the seat map is looking like. Whilst a dummy purchase will give you an indication of how many seats are left to buy, it doesn't always correlate to the seats that have been pre-assigned; so you might find a couple of seats together still open before you need to buy.

As Neil said!

If you do get the chance to request your seats now then do so, you can always have a look again OLCI opens to see if there are any 'better' ones available. Have a look at the seat maps / rating pages.

Congrats on your nuptuals !

Thanks everyone. Should have said MBJ [:I]

I phoned the UC number at Virgin and got a very helpful response. They checked the seating plans for me and have advised what is available and suggested that I would be able to select my seats as soon as I have booked. The flight a few days later has much better availability so we may shift by a few days.
A couple of details to check with hotel etc and then should be in a position to book and enjoy UC for perhaps the one and only time [:)]

Don't bank on it...I thought that, and next thing you're building travel plans and household spending around the next UC sale...
