I am flying LGW to MCO on the 4/05/2010 but am unable to pre book my seats.
The seats are for my wife and I and customer services assure me we will be able to sit next to each other but cant pre book then until check in opens 24 hours before we fly.
Has anyone got any advice, If 60 percent of the seats have been pre alocated how can they assure this? help. My wife is terrified of flying so not sitting next to me is not an option. Am i worrying for no reason?

Hello and welcome to V-Flyer.

The best advice we can give is to do OLCI when it opens 24 hours before the flight. I would also suggest you check just before then in case seats have been released early.

There is a good chance that you will be together as part of the PE allocation is blocked off for VH customers but once OLCI opens these too will be up for grabs

Just to add to what HL has already said.

Even if you can't get seats next to each other at OLCI stage, the bulkheads and exit row seats can only be allocated at the airport, so there would still be options available to you on the day of your flight.

Try not to worry, it is quite rare that 2 pax end up being split up, and I am sure the airport team would do all they could if worst came to the worst.

Oh, and welcome to V-Flyer from me also.

Also on board the cabin crew will also help if all else fails - which in all probability it won't

Obviously there are no absolute guarantees, but if you do check in online as soon as possible (24 hours in advance), the chances of you not finding a couple of seats together seem so slim as to be almost impossible. So many seats will be released at that point, you'd have to be very *very* unlucky to have the rest of the plane beat you to the post and check in the second before you.

The number of people checking in online is probably still in the minority (since they don't trust it), and leave it until they get to the airport in the hope of securing 'better seats'. Ironically, it's the once who leave it to the last minute that are likely to be split up.

ref the VH seats in the PE bubble upstairs.

We are flying out this Wednesday MAN to MCO and I've just had a quick look at the seat map via my booking.

All the front section VH PE seats (save the front row) are now up for grabs.

So it might be worth checking the day before OLCI opens.
