Completing Virgin Atlantic details

I was wondering if someone could answer a question please.

Just logged on to the Virgin Atlantic website to request my seats and while on the page noticed a section called
"Enter APIS/Secure Flight/SFPD details"

When I click this link there is a drop down box with the following to choose from

Staying in the US
Joining a cruise
Transit to a non-US city
Fly-drive passenger

Were on a fly-driver for 3 weeks in Orlando, do I select "Staying in the US" or "Fly-driver passenger"? The other 2 options obviously don't apply to us.

Might be a daft question so please accept my apologies.

I've always put "staying in the us" whenever I've been on holiday to the States.

Isn't the fly drive option more for people who may not have a hotel booked and you provide the name and location of the car hire company and your first intended stopping point, whereas stay in US means you list your first nights accom address?

Staying in the US is where you have an accommodation address.
afaik it used to be the first night address but I was clearly told by my last helpful immigration officer that it was the main address - not the first night at the airport hotel!

To me (but doubtless not US Immigration) "staying in the US" and "fly-drive passenger" are very similar, if not identical. I was under the impression that whichever of these two options you selected, you just gave them the address of your first night's stay in the US (irrespective of whether you are there for 1 night or 14 nights). With the obvious caveat that if you claim to be staying somewhere for 2 weeks, but when questioned can only produce a 1 night hotel reservation confirmation, then expect your progress through immigration to be somewhat slower.

The other 2 options they list are clearly for when you are arriving at a US airport, but leaving the country the same day, be it on a cruise ship or by going to Canada / Mexico / elsewhere.

I always understood it that it was the address of your first night's stay.

How do you 'pass' APIS etc without an address? And an address that you might be asked to produce evidence of at immigration at that?

I filled all my details the other night and I chose 'fly drive passenger' because I am staying in a villa booked through virgin, and will only know where it is when i get there and pick the details up from the lockbox outside the handling agent for the villa.

Whenever we have had a villa, we just put the address of the villa rental company. On the flydrive we've just done, we just put the 1st nights address down and got through customs in record time, less than hour, got through bags off 1st and we were on our way in less than an hour. y)

It's always funny to be asked this question when you live here already. Not sure why they can't differentiate between visitors and returnee's.
