I recently took up the offer of gifting some miles but for the last 2 days the website keeps coming with an error. I have called virgin who says its not down to them ( I suppose when the money comes in it's not either) . Has anyone else had this problem because the offer runs out today of an extra 15%

I get the same problem also. I guess you will just have to hope it comes back online before the end of the day.

I'd check with your credit card provider that the charge hasn't gone through (assuming you got to that stage) as well as your FC account.

There are letters in the weekend papers about people double booking etc because of websites freezing at crucial stages and people thinking its all gone wrong and rebooking and paying twice.

At last website back up and running. Also if you buy today it looks like the offer is automatically putting the 15% on your account. It does not show this when buying.
