Not seen this on here before, I was just called by VS about my flight to Vegas on Sunday, was offered the chance to book exit row or the extra leg room seats over the phone.

Payment was taken and an email sent at the same time, I normally try and get the window and middle exit seat as the window seat is not chargable, was advised if this is available at check in I would get a refund on one of the seats.

Suppose I probably wont be able to do online check in now, as the seat numbers are still confirmed at the airport, but at least now I am guarnteed a exit seat which on a 10hr flight in Y is a godsend!

Anyone else done this?

I read something about this the other day, well with the extra leg room seats anyway, and that person called up VS and could do it. Would be good to find out the actual VS policy on this.

Gavin I would check the online seat map if it's available, both now and 24 hours before. I was able to do this a couple of weeks ago and just the extra legroom seats showed on the map.

However, we were upgraded to PE at check in as the aircraft went tech and a plane was brought over from LHR to LGW. Many pax were offloaded to BA but we were one of the lucky ones.

Hi
Just checked the seat map and I am still in my original seats, the map is grayed out now as all the pre day seats are taken, suppose I will get my new exit seats tomorrow when I go down to LGW to do twilight checkin.

Am not sure what the exact policy is on all of this, the lady on the phone was not exactly sure at first regarding the A and K door seats and put me on hold before stating I could get a refund of the one seat in Gatwick if I get alloicated it.

Thanks!! I've also checked the seat map & yes our seats & everyone else's is grayed out (also on return flight 21/11) - will be doing OLCI tomorrow & bag drop tomorrow evening, so will wait & see what happens! Did request a load count here & there seems to be a few seats available, good luck

I just phoned VS as my OH is in Y next week (long story).
Anyway - and I think this is pretty stupid - I can't speak to someone to pay - they have to get someone from their outbound team to ring me (within 3 days of travel) - and they can't even guarantee I'll be in 'front' of their dialler list.

Silly as I'm basically saying "ring me and I'll pay you the £75 rather than your dialler going through all the Y passengers on the flight" but hey.

So yes they are sort-of pre bookable - I preferred the old 'first come first served', ah well. Will keep you posted on how awkward/easy it turns out to be!

Had a phone call back in 5 mins - very impressed!
Paid over phone (VS Amex naturally) - means an exit row seat is guaranteed however they don't assign specific ones until the day.

return from America is usual first-come first-served.

All good!
