Hello,
I'm new to this forum and having read loads of previous posts I think someone here might be able to offer me some peace of mind?
I recently booked to fly with VS to the USA and when my
e-ticket came through I noticed they had me titled as 'Mrs' when in fact I have a'Miss' title.
On phoning reservation, I was told that its only names which are important and that 'titles' do not matter. The guy said he'll make a note of it.
Should I be concerned or just take it they are right. I know how important it is to have the correct name (spelt right)etc listed on a ticket. I'd hate to get to the airport and be refused boarding.
Any comments would be much appreciated.

Hello and welcome

It is your name that is the most important thing not your title.

As long as the name on the ticket matches with your passport and your ESTA you will be ok.

Cheers Tontybear. That's what the reservation said but wasn't sure if I was being fobbed off coz they had made a mistake.
Thanks for taking the time to reply.

As has been said there is no title in your passport so whatever they put doesn't really matter. If you are "Dr" then you could be a man or a woman.
I have heard, and ISTBC, that they use the title as an indicator of sex so that they can balance the plane as women are generally not as heavy as men! I think this might be more true on little planes though.

Hello again,
Just to say thank you for the additional replies. I feel very confident about it now. You're right the title is not important, I checked its not even marked on the ESTA or my passport.
Now to try to secure some 'reasonable' accommodation in new york for one of the busy times of the year ie December although I must admit there is alot more available this year than I have previously experienced. Still expensive though :(!

re NYC accommodation - it pays to spend some time doing some research.

Look on something like expedia to fide a few nice hotels you like the look of, then go to the hotel websites to see what deals they are offering (remember the initial prices won't include taxes). Look on Tripadvisor for reviews too and then use their price searches.

Also look at VS and VH. I found a great hotel on VS for my stay on Boston that was miles cheaper (much to my surprise) than on any other site.

Priceline and Hotwire also offer deals (but you don't get told the name of the hotel until you pay but you can choose a general area). I have had good deals from hotwire and others on here use priceline.

Also consider staying slightly away from the central Times Square district. I've stayed in Chelsea and also Wall Street areas and got good deals and the subway up to Times Square only took 10-15 mins - the savings were worth the extra few mins travelling!

I've got to go back to NYC in two weeks - a bit of an unexpected work trip that was booked today.

Work had trouble finding me a soho/east village hotel - but there is availability at the Holiday Inn Lafayette if you don't mind being downtown.

(Which works for me as that is where the office is, but also, I far prefer it to the tourist hell that is midtown)
