I would normally link to something on the Daily Heil, but this had me chortling. I don't think they could have avoided the diversion, but a complete dereliction of customer care. Mind you, it takes flair to lock the bogs and trundle off!

Wierd thing is why didnt the pilot land on autopilot thats what happened to me on BA, they tried landing and then aborted flew the BHX to refuel and then came back to land on autopilot.
Are Ryanair pilots not trained to use autopilot for landings?

I think it's more complicated than that with all kinds of criteria coming into play. Both the aircraft and the airport have to have certain additional equipment (google CATIIIc for the full skinny) and both the crew on the flight deck have to be appropriately trained.

I think the passengers are to blame here. Ryanair gave them a bus back to Paris, the airport was shut due to fog. What more could they do?

It's a 3 hour ride to Beauvais from liege according to the article, than they protested for 4 hours, work that one out!?

Undoubtedly they compounded the situation - but note it was the airport, not Ryanair, the offered the transportation.
