Just wanted to share in my good news.

I had 2 return PE flights to LAS booked for this January using miles and the AMEX upgrades (there were zero UC availablity for miles as usual). Then almost everyday since I booked (back in August) I have been on and checked for UC reward availablity and yesterday there was for the outbound!

I got straight on the phone and they amended the outbound flight to UC changing it to all miles! So for an additional 50K miles and £26 I am now flying out to LAS in Upper for me and my Dad! (His 65th birthday present from me! Good son!). I am now going to keep an eye open for the return leg which at the moment is also looking wide open so I think it will only be a matter of time before availablity comes and I can make the same change for the return leg as I have loads of miles to spend and only really want to spend them sitting at the front of the plane.

Just wanted to share that bit of news for people, changing the flight was made so easy by the reservations team and its great to spend some of those miles on UC flights as I was getting close to changing the flight to LAX in UC and connecting but I really didnt want to do that!

Hey ScubaRoo/Nick,

They had to take off the amex reward for that leg so it went back down to a economy seat and then apply the mileage difference between the economy and upper class ticket. You cant just use miles to upgrade the amex voucher to Upper, you need to remove it from the leg and then use miles entirely - that is not against the rules. Hope that makes sense.

What a great birthday present!

Do VS still have the pre-order celebration cakes? (I haven't seen one in ages!) Why not order one if they still do them for you to have whilst relaxing (and celebrating) all the way to Las Vegas!

:)

I've got a PE reward (AMEX voucher) to JFK, and might want to change it to Boston. Only UC is available to Boston, no PE on the day.

Bearing in mind the above, might we be able to remove the AMEX voucher and change to a UC reward to Boston?

You would be able to remove the voucher and then just use full miles for an UC reward. If you want to do it on only one leg then you would just lose half of your AmEx voucher effectively.
