I'm flying Ucs from jfk to Heathrow tomorrow and haven't ever used the virgin lounge there before. How does it compare to the lhr lounge ? Or the ba first lounge at jfk which I thought was fairly good.

The JFK Clubhouse isnt as big as the flagship one at LHR (or BA's F lounge at JFK) but its a very nice one. There should be some pictures in the gallery. The lounge is upstairs and there is a nice long bar and plenty of seating. There is a full restaurant style service so you can dine before you fly if you wish and plenty of choice for drinks. There is also a VIP room in the lounge (two I believe). As a place to wait before a flight I believe it is very nice indeed.

Don't forget also that according to dispatches the JFK clubhouse is moving airside, and will have private security!

Hay all, :-) I see from this post that the JFK Clubhouse is landside, but might be moving airside. Has it moved already or is it scheduled to move airside in 2011? Will be making use of the Clubhouse @ JFK in June and just curious if it'll be landside or airside.

Thanks

Thanks for the info Tinkerbeele :-) so if the clubhouse house is landside, how long should one give to get from the Clubhouse and through security to get to the gate? Do they announce flights earlier in the JFK Clubhouse to allow passengers time to get through security and to the gate?

In November, it took about 10-15 minutes for the VS10, but that was mainly down a group travelling in front of us having no real idea on how to get through security.

Thanks Darren, just has visions of leaving the clubhouse, all champagned up and spending ages gettting thought security and having to rush to get to the gate to make the flight. Not used to being in a clubhouse before security.

It took me less than ten minutes on Thursday (and it would have been quicker if I'd used the non fast-trak lane like DB did). The staff still didn't know when the move was likely to happen.

The CH staff call you in plenty of time to make the gate, and usually their 'last call' still leaves you sitting on board with half an hour before the doors close.

You'll have no worries.
