Hi All, I have a few questions I'd like some help with please.

1) I am flying on VS43 PE on 07.03.2011 out of Gatwick, I have prebooked 77A & 77C but have seen that when online check in opens rows 70 and 75 will become available. On the seat guide 77 gets good ratings but 70 and 75 appear to have more space on the upper deck. Any advice from those in the know or have flown before, I'm not sure how busy this plane will be!

2) I am a flying club member (brand new!) I have so far 5222 points and 4 tier points. The flight above gives me 13,000 miles and 6 tier points. I also have the virgin black Amex Card and will probably spend £12000 per year on this - what does this all mean, what's the best way to use these cards?

3) Finally, what does "Flight Class" mean? I have a K next to my booking this time???

Thanks all!

Nick

OK, I can't answer 1 and 2

3. This means that you are booked into Premium Economy in K class which is a highly restricted fare not permitting changes. If you look under Fare Codes in the Toolbox on the menu bar you will see them explained

Row 70 is right at the front of tyhe Cabin.

Good Points:
A little more leg room
Likely to receive service first (therefore obtain choice of food)

Bad Points
Is next to the toilets, so will have people hanging around
Is leil;y to have been chosen already by a VH Pax

Row 75 is an exit Row seat which can only be allocated at Check In. Yes You have plenty of room in front of you, but restricted in terms of views out of the windows

Not sure what you are asking on number 2. From what you have said, you are likely to have 40k miles or so by the end of the year, just as an example that is enough for a miles economy flight (you still have to pay the taxes), or 2 x round trip upgrades from economy to PE, or a one way upgrade from economy to UC.

To upgrade with miles you need to be in an upgradable fare code, and miles only flights do still require you to pay any taxes and fees.

Have a look in the flying club section on the VS site as all details on what you can spend miles on are listed.

I recently sat in 76A and thought that was quite a good place in the cabin. The exit seats didn't look that great to me to be honest. And anything at the front is a bit too near the toilets for my liking.

I would be interested to know if these virgin credit cards are worth it. I need a new card and was wondering whether to get one of these or another airmiles card. Anyone got a view on them?

If you are likely to be able to use the miles then, I think, they are well worthwhile. Combined with VS click-through shopping, I can manage 2 Ec-UC upgrades per year. If I flew more frequently, I would likely use the PE upgrFr vouchers as well.

If you use credit cards a fair bit and pay the balance every month, then the Virgin Amex credit card is a good card. It isn't a proper Amex card, as it is administered by MBNA.

If you want a points earning card, and act quick - there is a day or two left on the proper Amex gold card offer -

Details here.

£95 fee with 20,000 bonus points and double points at supermarkets - garages etc. for 12 months. It also has insurance and other benefits for your fee.

The offer has been extended a couple of times, and is currently due to expire in a day or two!

I am on the black card. I also have the gold Amex rewards card - when I applied for it there was a generous cash back offer through Quidco which may or may not be running still.

Nottingham Nick

Thanks for the Amex tip y)

I completed the application online at 10pm that night, even though I was a tad jet lagged, before the offer expired - phew!

I was immediately accepted :D

I've just had a call from Amex customer service to let me know of all the benefits etc - really pleasant chap, we had a nice chat.

Also, the offer has been extended until the end of March y)
