Hi,
I'am hoping someone can help me understand the Virgin Atlantic flying club, and how/when I can use the miles.

we are due to fly out to LAS PE both ways, and were told we can get 13,500 miles on our flying club accounts, i have never signed up to a reward account before so I am not sure what I can get with this in the future.

We are due to book our holiday for next year to Orlando, can someone advise what I can get with 13,500 miles i.e. seat upgrade 1 way etc..

Regards

Dave

Have a read of the flying club section on the VS site to see what you can use your miles for.

You have to remember that not every flight will have 'miles' seats available and to upgrade using miles you need to book direct with Virgin and in an upgradable fare code.

You need 10,000 per person for a 1 way upgrade from Economy to PE. This can be done by purchasing an upgradable Economy fare, and is subject to reward seat availability in PE.

You can see the fare types on the V-flyer site here:
the-toolbox/fare-codes

The only economy buckets are Y, B and L (the latter with a 1st leg out of London only)
In PE its W and S buckets only. Plus 20,000 miles each way.

sorry to say this, but there's not a lot of useful stuff you can do with just 10,000 miles.

The upgradeable tickets are a LOT more money than non upgradeable, so its not worth the cost. If you are traveling alone on a non upgradeable EC ticket, then ask at the desk, pretty please, if they will let you do it with your miles, but - its very unlikely.

Not true. L fares are not upgradeable for flights originating from the US but are for flights originating from all other destinations.

From the VS website:
You can upgrade cabins when purchasing a full adult fare; flights originating in the UK, Caribbean, Hong Kong, China, Kenya, Ghana, Dubai and Australia booking classes W, S, Y, B and L. USA originating flights W,S,Y and B class. Flights originating Nigeria, India, South Africa and Japan booking classes W,S,Y,B,L and M.

Thanks HL |:) Slapped wrists accepted.

I pretty much only ever fly UK-USA so did not think about all those other countries. :|

Cheers
