Row 21 LGW/MAN 747

Hi All,
We are flying out Man/Las in January and have secured our PE seats in the bubble.
My sister and her hubby have also decided to come out for their first Vegas trip too and have X tickets. The seat map has, for the first time as far as I can remember, opened up row 21 for advance reservations. This is the front row of the economy 'mini-cabin' and they are bulkhead seats.
They have requested 21F &G which were the last 2 seats on this row that remained. There are no seat reviews of these that I can find so I just wondered if anyone had any experience or knowledge of them? Do they have any extra legroom at all?

This link to a post from the super reliable Tinks suggests not. There is usually a fee associated with booking extra leg room seats too, so if you've just been able to select them that would suggest not too.

But having looked at the seat maps, I'm not sure how row 22 is extra leg room and the row in front isn't? Perhaps if Tinks reads this she could clarify.

Bulkhead does not automatically mean 'extra leg room' - and that includes PE and even Business/1st class cabins.. In fact it can mean less leg room as you don't have a seat on front to put your legs under. Also the tray table/TV screen is in the arm rest so the seats are slightly narrower too.

Advantage is that there is no one in front of you to reline into your space.

Remember that more seats will be available when OLCI opens.

Thought I would drop in on this one, 21F&G are front row bulk head seats as mentioned above, there far is more leg room than normal Y, but perhaps about a foot 'n a half. Might be worth mentioning the seats are skinnier than normal as the TV workings and traytable are set into the seat itself.

I think Tinkerbelle might mean 21ABC HJK, (not 22) as extra legroom seats, these are spacier than 21 DEFG. Set in front of DEFG is a cupboard which takes up some of the legroom found at ABC & HJK.

Looking at seatguru row 21 are bulkhead seats with some extra legroom.

Yep you defintely get a bit more legroom with these seats but the armrests are fixed as they house the tray-tables.

However as a cabin engineer on the ramp at LGW, I double checked this morning - row 21 are extra legroom seats. I joined hoping to shed some light on our LGW aircraft, and help out where needed.

I think there is some confusion over the use of the phrase 'extra leg room'.

Extra leg room seats are the seats the VS sell, for £30 per person, and they offer about an extra 4" more legroom than the standard Y seat. There are also exit rows (sold for £50 or £75) and bulkheads that are free of charge. The link RedVee posted to, in which Tink lists the extra leg room seats, are specifically the 'extra leg room seats' that are sold for £30 only.

Yes, row 21 as a bulk head does have more space/legroom than a standard Y row, however as there is a wall in front of you, you cannot stretch your legs out under the seat in front (as there isn't one) and that to me, means that it actually ends up giving less overall leg room.

There is some sort of 'blip' on the VS seat maps. My flight to BGI next week also shows those seats available and I know of quite a few other people who could select them too.

I have decided not to request them as it's most likely that they will be used to seat people with special needs. Row 21 is a bulkhead, as mentioned, but Row 22 ABC and HJK on some aircraft also has extra legroom (as per Tinks post).

And remember if you're at a bulkhead you're more likely to have a baby in the seats next to you using the skycots - so might be a bit more legroom but could be a bit nosier too!

I was just wondering what people's experience/thoughts of rows 22/23 DEFG are?

We currently have a window seat + middle-of-3 seat in row 29 booked... i'm thinking the move forward to the mini-cabin would have advantages of being quieter, earlier off the plane (though not a huge requirement) and although the middle section, it's only 3 rows and would mean we wouldn't have to worry about getting up for anyone/disturbing a stranger if we wanted to get out for the loo/leg-stretch...
