My girlfriend has a flight to come visit me from Hawaii. She is flying Hawaiian to Las Vegas and Virgin to London.

I would LOVE to upgrade her if I can on the London leg. I have plenty of miles, so can I do it if she is on an N fare? I have her booking up on the site, but I don't see anywhere to upgrade her unfortunately.

I don't mind calling, as long as it's possible to do!

Unfortunately an N fare is not upgradable with miles.

You would need an L, B or Y to use miles.

'N' fares are not upgradeable, you'd have to pay for a L fare or above to use miles.

The flight is ex USA so would need to be in a B or Y booking class. L class fare is only applicable for flights originating ex UK. The move to a B class from an N class is going to be significant and then there will be the increased taxes etc etc.

Ahh... that's too bad. She's had a rough few months and this will be her 2nd night in a row on a plane. Wanted to spoil her a bit. :(

nothing wrong with wanting to spoil her a bit

you could always ring and ask how much ££ it would be to get her ticket into a Y/B bucket. I have no idea how much it would be (and Dragon Lady says it could be expensive) but at least you had asked.

Along the same lines here - my 1st reaction was 'sure, why not!'
