I've been eagerly awaiting Jet Blue to release their fare prices beyond February 15th coz we as a family are heading to Florida in February for half-term break. Had hoped to fly into JFK and then out to Orlando with Jet Blue.
We've watched all the airlines competing with good sale fares over the past few weeks and was ready to book our flights into JFK. Both VS & AA looked good, then on Sunday out comes Jet Blue with fares from JFK to MCO return. We was horrified, they are out at $877 which works out about £560 for the internal flight v( . That scuppered all our plans, so it was back to the drawing board.
I notice that for the Easter school break period, the JFK to MCO is a great fare at $114 but the return back into JFK is showing around $300+ at present. Perhaps JB have cottoned onto the advice, on how to save money, given on this forum by suggesting fly into JFK and then down to Florida. Its been good to us many times in the past but not at present.

Hi Hev,

What are your dates? Could JFK into TPA work out cheaper? TPA is a nice small airport and only 90 mins into the Orlando area?

Just did a quick check around the dates you mentioned and TPA was substantially cheaper $247 return.

Hi Luke, thanks for replying.
Yes agree with you re Tampa. We have flown from there several times back into JFK or Boston (in fact did it just a few months back). Great airport and returning the car there is so easy compared to Orlando.
However our plans have to be in and out of MCO as we are not hiring a car. Booked into Disney's AKLodge so we can use transportation just for the short duration. We're heading out Saturday 18th and returning Saturday 25th February 2012.
We had flights on 'hold' and have now booked them into JFK, one way or another we'll get back from MCO.
Experience from this April was that the JB flights actually reduced in price prior to our travel dates and we're holding a $545 credit in their 'Travel Bank'. This can be offset against any fare with JB before 31st Match 2012, so we'll be closely watching the fares. They always move up & down, far more than the set UK fares.

ps. Yes we've also used Fort Myers Airport many times too - that is probably one of the best for travellers to Florida just no hassle at all, especially with the car hire centre on site now and all the new roads. y)
