A friend who is booked onto VS43 on the 13th Dec has received an email telling them the flight has been cancelled and offering rebooking on either the 12th or 14th. After a random trawl of the schedule, it seems VS are reducing the LAS-LGW flights to 6 days a week, with the flights on 29/11, 5/12, 13/12, 24/12, 11/1, 17/1....etc all pulled.

That's a random pattern and doesn't indicate the flight schedule is being reduced, just that VS tightly manages things when there are low bookings, and cancels selected flights. I also think VS is suffering because BA is flying 747s from LHR which frankly have a better on board product.

Yes, I found out too, thanks to the Trip Advisor Vegas forum that mine was cancelled on 29 November. They've rebooked me on 30 Nov, still on an Upper G reward thankfully.

I've just emailed my host at the Wynn to see if she will be kind enough to comp me for 4 nights, instead of the original 3 she'd agreed to.

I've also increased my valet parking at LGW for an additional day for £15.

I called Virgin who confirmed the booking was okay for 30 Nov and they said my agent should have told me. Called the agent who said they have lots of cancellations and they only deal with them nearer to departure time, not when the cancellation notice was received. Very poor show v( as this could be a week before I go, not leaving a great deal of time to alter everything.

This is my first solo trip and only planned on 3 nights just in case I get a bit fed up on my own and now have an additional night to consider.

Oh well, better raid the bank account and clear the credit cards as more gambling and shopping to be done.

Yes - sorry. My initial post suggests it is the LAS-LGW leg alone that is cancelled. To be clear, the dates I have shown above are the LGW-LAS flights (VS43) that are cancelled. The linked 'return' flight LAS-LGW (VS44) is also cancelled.

If the loads are also light then I'd say yes though it has been known for an airline to operate an outbound but cancel the return inbound and fly am empty plane home.
