Hi,
Please could someone clarify something for me.

Ok so Have booked seats for flight to LAS and I know the rule for flights from LHR you need to check in 13 hours before to enable us to confirm your request. I know that from Gatwick the rule is 2 hours before, but do you have to check in online 2 hours before or can you check in at the airport/self-service kiosk 2 hours before?

Thanks,
Roo36 :)

You should be checked in 2 hours before departure for long haul flights anyway. So yessiree on line or at the airport

Even if you do OLCI at t-2 (the limit) you still need to have dropped your bags off by t-1.

Check-in for your flight closes 60 minutes before departure, although I do remember one famous day in 2002. It was the golden Jubilee weekend and half term in the UK, BA had a plane stuck on the tarmac in Antigua and Aer Lingus had closed down operations in retaliation following a pilots' strike earlier in the week. LHR was in total chaos. :0 I was 1 hour 30 minutes waiting in the PE check-in for VS1. At departure time the captain announced there were still 120 people to check in for the flight; 30 minutes later there were 40 people to be checked in and we took off an hour late no doubt with many out of breath passengers on board!

That's the exception, not the rule so be there well in time

Sorry Maybe I should have explained this better, what I meant was at LGW in order to retain your seat request do you have to check in online or can you check in at a Self-Service Kiosk to retain the request?

Thanks

Always best to check in on line as soon as the flight opens - when you get to the airport you will still need to go to the bag drop, so using the self check kiosk serves no real purpose in my view
