Lost Luggage Question

Has anybody have any experience of being reunited with lost luggage?
A bag yesterday was never shipped from SFO with the rest of our luggage. It gets more complicated as one of our bags had two luggage labels on it. It's own one and the one the missings bag. !
Now, why did the bag count match for the flight?

I did pop a laminated address inside the bag onto of our luggage, so hopefully it's found.

A few years ago our daughter's suitcase didn't appear in Havana at the same time we did. Even with the chaos that surrounded the lost luggage counter, it was quickly identified as being "still at Gatwick" and delivered to us on the next flight out a couple of days later. We were also compensated, though we did find clothes shopping for a teenager in Havana a wee bit of a challenge.

Had that on a flight to Barbados, but just arrived a day late. Just this time it's not been tagged!!
