Hi guys, just a really nosy question from me, and if anyone can shed some light on it, i'd be more than grateful.

There has been a hell of alot of diversions and off schedule flight occuring. I am aware of the flights to MNL but why have both A330's visited Zurich recently, with YQX receiving a visit whilst on an MCO run?

Also anyone know why FOX, RED and AST (A346)have been diverted away from Miami in recent weeks to FPO, MCO and NAS respectively?

G-VEIL has had an eventful few weeks, with diversions to Helsinki just after takeoff to Hong Kong, also to SHA en route to PVG and scheduled to fly to Frankfurt soon? Anyone know why??!!

Finally, can any one answer why AIR diverted from Nairobi to Mombassa? Sorry, i know it's nosy, just intrigued. Thanks in advance for any replies :) :)

The A330's went to Zurich for a bit of cabin work, no official reason but we believe to make the IFE wifi compatible.

The MIA diversions are almost certainly due to storms in the area, as all of the diversions went to nearby Florida airports.

Don't know on the others, likely to be medical diversions or special charter flights (like the Frankfurt one).

The A330s in Zurich are there for a fitting. The word on the street is that it is to have wi-fi installed although Airliners World said it was for mood lighting which is already there.

The Miami flights were in all probability diverted because of Irene and Katia. I would suggest that the MCO flight diverted to YQX was a medical emergency.
Similarly the flight diverted to Helsinki was also for the same reason and also the flight to PVG

Isn't Frankfurt one of the maintenance/painting stations?

Just my thoughts on it

This list may be corrected by the more knowledgeable - apart from weather or medical diversions to odd ports of call like HEL, VS aeroplanes can be seen in these places:

AMS - 747 fleet heavy maintenance / servicing
MNL - 340 fleet heavy maintenance / servicing
MAN - painting
FRA - technology installation by Lufthansa Technik (as in the rumoured installation of in flight WiFi)

YQX (Gander) is likely a medical emergency but it is also a 'popular' diversion airport if there is any trouble on board and the pilot wants a pax or two removed from the plane.
