Hi all
Hoping to get some advice from v-flyers who've travelled with small children...
We've got a trip to MIA booked in October for the family...my wife and I, our new arrival (6 months old - not getting his own seat) and my parents, flying out in UC and back in Econ. We booked over the phone using FF miles out plus the new "combi" fares for return leg, and the agent told us that seats couldn't be reserved in advance for anyone in the party as we were travelling with an infant on lap and would need a bassinet seat. I phoned again more recently to double-check, and got the same message...bassinet seats can only be allocated by check-in staff at the airport on the day, and we're all on one booking so same applies to all of us.
Is this right? Having booked about 10 months in advance, I'm nervous about the idea that we get split up on the day or miss out on the limited no. of bassinet seats (I think only one position in UC?). Should I try again over the phone, or is it just a case of turning up early on the day and taking pot luck with check-in?
any advice gratefully received
thanks
James
