I got this email from the nice people at the Flying Club yesterday welcoming me to Flying Club Red. I'm FC AU by the way, they even had my gold number correctly in the email.

Welcome to Flying Club Red

Today I got the apology :)

Dear Martin,

The email that you’ve received welcoming you to Flying Club Red, was sent to you in error. Please accept our apologies and be rest–assured that your Gold membership remains unaffected.

We look forward to welcoming you onboard soon,

The Flying Club team

I love the fact that VS behaves like disorganised schoolboy. Its all part of the charm. :) (Said without the cynicism it sounds like it should have).

[Edited to try to get the image in the right place]

Amazing - if I made that kind of mistake (on top of all the others in recent months) in my line of work - I'd be out of work...

I agree Concorde. Most companies make errors once in a while. Poor old VS do as a way of life. Perhaps they need a new motto:
"Working for Virgin Atlantic means forever having to say sorry" :)

I'm sure the email has something to do with my recent application for a VS Amex card. I just hope they are a bit more diligent with their financial services partners than they are with their wayward communications policy. Time will tell.

Cheers

Martin

Do check your online purchase history as the idiots at vs towers wipe all history everytime I change from red to silver and back again, so does my wifes account.
Such a clever system they have.......not!

cheers

I absolutely love the way we all accept the consistent cock ups of VS's IT team ^)
As others have said, many other lines of work would have sorted the culprits out by now ?|

Reminds me of the time that my son qualified for gold a few years ago. When his renewal came up a few weeks later he got the "Congratulations, you have retained Silver" message. When we called VS it turns out that the tier points had been attributed to an on-line application for FC member that I had started for him and then abandoned once I realised that it could not be done as parental consent was needed as he was underage! The tier points had not been earned through flying and so they didn't have his FC number
