Am ?| ?| ?|

You booked in July this year yet VS say that was more than a year ago???

Sounds like you got a confused agent. Give the another ring and speak to someone else but as James says you might have to pay a change fee.

The agent means the suggested new flight date is more than a year since the original booking was made.

I'm not sure what the fare rules dictate for reward bookings. Changes can be made for a fee and a quick look doesn't say anything about time scale, so I would call again and see what they say.

I am pretty sure that the flight has to be made within 12 months of original booking. This applies for revenue tickets as well.

An admittedly quick read of the T&Cs under reward bookings does not state this ... I'd also call back and ask, if the statement remains, to be referenced to the T&C which states the limitation?

How much would a cancellation cost in terms of miles and cash?

I believe the rules say if you cancel 7+ days before flying you lose 25% of the miles and there's a fee ...
