I have searched through the site and just to make sure my understanding is correct, as i know I am getting on and you young things know everything technical.

I have just qualified for a companion reward on my Amex card, so the way i understand it, there has to be availability in the reward class you want. We wanted UC as not getting any younger nearly killed us coming back in PE in Sept, so money permitting its the full J class ticket you have to buy and the reward also being available and as it seems to be pretty worthless, as the ticket prices are exhorbitant, so buying in a lower UC grade would be much better value.

We have also managed to aquire 100,000 miles each so am looking for some nice returns any time next year when all the old age ailments have been sorted. Have been on my back for nearly 3 weeks on painkillers with swisted back and groin, just coming back to some sort of normality its coming off the medication thats worse.(put that in so you can all feel sorry for me need cheering up) y)

You have it correct, trying to use the companion voucher for UC just doesn't make financial sense, 99.99% of the time 2xZ's (or even i's) are much cheaper than 1 x J and the companion taxes
