I have flown this route every month for the last 3 years, it is a real shame that every time i fly now i see something else they have cut back on, these over the last 18 months have led to a very different service from what we once received from virgin. I however still enjoy the flight but i believe the staff are who make it. Being a gold member and stepping onto the plane 2 years ago warranted a welcome Mr xxxx but now nothing. they removed the little moisturisers sweets, the little touches are gone. and the suites are now becoming tatty. So please virgin sort it out i love flying VA, dont make me stop. And then i go to book my usual flight a few months back and they tell me no flight that day due to maintenance on the plane, thats ok i thought, until yesterday and the same thing has happened again. These must be cut backs and it makes the LHR NRT route an unrealible option as a business route. Can anyone explain to me whats happening.

Sounds like you need to write to Virgin Atlantic.

I don't understand your comment about maintenance ... but many of us share your thoughts about the little things.

To be really honest I had a really fantastic LHR-NRT flight recently.
The load seemed so light that we were worried that the flight might get pulled, but the day arrived for our departure and it was still on....
It was only on board the plane that we learnt that the total load was only 80 pax, with a mere 11 in UC.
This made the trip feel like one in a private jet tbh.
Did this light load mean that the CC took the opportunity to do as little as possible?
Not a bit of it, they were all brilliant and without exception made it a truly memorable flight.

A couple of years ago I did LHR-EWR with less then 20 in UC on a 747 there were 8 of us in the A zone and the rest upstairs. The B zone was eerily quiet with no pax yet the crew were brilliant and set up the bar and made regular checks. The best part of the flight was standing in the galley just chatting and drinking tea (and with regular asking if I wanted anothing stonger!) with the crew.

I really do think it is downto the FSM. Where they lead the others follow (though from some TRs the odd mutiny would't go amiss!)

As i say i really enjoy the virgin brand, i only wanted to point out that i believe the service is slipping somewhat, its not on every flight thats for sure. I main beef is about the maintainece schedules that seem to be happening on a more regular basis. Also no comments regarding the shabby state of some suites, any refurbs planned. Never did i mention the staff not doing their jobs. They seem a real happy bunch who enjoy working for their company.
